FAQs
Have you got a question you would like to ask regarding our professional Autoglass repair services? See our FAQ section below. If that doesn't answer your question, then please feel free to give us a call.
My windscreen has just cracked. What do I do?
In the majority of cases most cars are still OK to drive but it’s important to get it looked at as soon as possible to avoid further damage or costs. A chip in your windscreen will only get worse if neglected, and damaged windscreens are a major reason for MOT failure. However, stone chips can be repaired by means of resin injection which restores your windscreen to it’s full strength. And most insurance companies will pay the full cost of a windscreen repair. We will always aim to repair small stone chips and cracks rather than replacing the whole screen.
Does my windscreen need repairing or replacing?
We will always attempt to repair your windscreen, but this depends on the size of the damage and where it is situated. Damage up to 40mm across can usually be repaired, as long as it’s not in the driver’s view – an area called the ‘A zone.’ Here, only damage up to 10mm can be repaired effectively.
What's your guarantee of quality?
We guarantee the workmanship on re-glazing jobs, as well as windscreen resin repairs on front screens, for as long as the ownership of the vehicle remains unchanged. All our windscreen replacements come with a lifetime guarantee. We only use OE standard glass, and all of our work is done to BS-AU242A standard..
What are your call out times?
Our fitting centres are open from 8:30am till 5:30pm Monday to Friday and on Saturdays from 8:30am to 12:30pm. Outside these hours, work is carried out by our team of mobile technicians who are on call 24 hours a day every day of the year.
What does a windscreen repair involve?
A technician will clean and dry the damaged area and then fill it with a clear resin that has similar properties to glass. The repair will be almost invisible – much less noticeable than the original damage and will restore the windscreen’s strength.
Do I need to call my insurer?
No, we do this for you. We bill them direct for windscreen jobs, all we need are your policy details and an excess payment (we’ll always try to discount your excess too).
How long does it take?
All windscreen replacements, repairs and windscreen jobs vary but usually between 45 and 90 minutes.
Do you service corporate customers?
We have many close relationships with fleet customers and insurance companies, and we are always keen to begin others. Please contact us for more information.
